Sponsored by Cracker Jack Inc., the
second annual Cracker Jack Old-timers
Baseball Classic, was played on July
18, 1983, at R.F.K. Memorial Stadium in
Washington D.C. The event took place
every July from 1982 to 1987 at RFK
Stadium, and Pilot Field in Buffalo
hosted the events from 1988 to 1990.
Cracker Jack dropped their sponsorship
following the 1985 event, after which
it became the National Old-Timers
Baseball Classic.
Ballplayers that participated in the 1983, second annual Cracker Jack Old
Timers Classic game included; Manager
Eddie Sawyer, Don Drysdale, Juan
Marichal, Joe Garagiola Red Schoendist,
Ernie Banks, Eddie Mathews, Ralph Kiner,
and Monte Irvine, for the National
League team. Manager and pitcher Bob
Lemon, Bill Dickey, Phil Rizzuto, Boog
Powell, Harmon Killebrew, Joe DiMaggio
and Minnie Minoso for the American
League team. The National League won
the 5 inning game 5-3.

below. The caps were sold as souvenirs,
with part of the proceeds going to the
APBPA - Association of Professional
Ball Players of America. The group aids
former players, managers, umpires and
front office executives who have become
ill or indigent. It was reported that
the sponsors of the
classic guaranteed the APBPA
$50,000. in 1982.
