This is
a Lou Gehrig Autograph Sample signed on a Baseball. A
Lou Gehrig single signed baseball is worth about
$30,000.-$65,000. A Lou Gehrig autographed photo would be
in the $5,500.-$8,000
price
range.
Larger and more desired photos could
sell for more.
Value is based on average prices of recently closed
auctions. Prices may vary based on condition, and the
type of authenticity that accompanies the baseball.
Signatures that are not properly authenticated could
sell at half the market value or less.
Below
is a Lou Gehrig Babe Ruth Dual signed baseball with
the inscription: "To my friend Kay from H.L. Gehrig The kid known as Lou"
As you can see, this is a National league, western league ball from when Dale D. Gear was the president. His tenure was from 1926 through 1935 which does not really help to date this ball. I have
been told by one of the leading
auctioneers in the sports memorabilia industry that this ball was most likely signed in 1927 while on a barnstorming tour because it is a western league ball. Also, by the way
Lou
Gehrig signed it, you would have to guess it was early in his career. Click
here to see Babe Ruth's Autograph Sample from this same
Baseball also with an inscription written by the Babe. -
